Starting in 2009, holders of passports allowing visa-free access to the United States started being required to obtain an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA), and is valid for 2 years.
Starting in 2016, holders of passports allowing visa-free access to Canada have started being required to first obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), and is valid for 5 years or when a passport expires, whichever comes first.
Starting in 2025, holders of passports allowing visa-free access to 30 countries in Europe will first need to obtain a European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS), which will be valid for 3 years.
